Attributes are pieces of data that are stored within Products, Cables and Symbols. They can be used to describe the real-world characteristics of products and cables, like Price, Location, Length, Label etc.
Certain the Attributes "Manufacturer", "Model Number" and "Description", have their values defined and stored in the Product record: they are read-only and cannot be changed in any View. Other Attributes are created as placeholders whose values the user can set. Attributes can be used to generate Reports and Cable Schedules.
You can define the Attribute placeholders to be added to Products and Cables by using the Product Attributes and Cable Attributes dialogs, acessed via the Tools | Personalization sub-menu.
You can set default values for Attributes in Products, e.g. default pricing, using the Product Attributes spreadsheet.
Attributes are displayed in the Properties Grid when in a Drawing view, and in the Products View and Cables View in the Project Dashboard.
Attributes can be used in Symbols to act as dynamic labels, displaying the value of that Attribute - see Auto Labels and Text Attributes.
