Reset Origin

The Origin is primarily used in symbols since it defines a symbol's insertion point. In a document that is not used as a symbol, the origin can be used as the point from which the grid emanates.

Choosing Reset Origin sets the document origin to 0, 0 - its default value. The origin can be adjusted manually using the Set Origin command, or by entering values in the Origin Page of the Document Properties Sheet.

In symbols, the origin is used to define the point which sits on your cursor when you are inserting a symbol from the Library List. If the origin is within the extents of the objects in your document the origin will be located on the tip of your cursor as you are dragging the symbol in. If the origin lies outside the extents of the objects in the symbol, the centre of the symbol will be used as the insertion point. This is intended as a safeguard: if the origin was a very long way outside the extents of the symbol you could drag the symbol into a document but be unable to see it. The objects making up the symbol could be a very long way away from the origin.
