Certain keys other than the FastKeys and shortcut keys have an effect when used in conjunction with the mouse within Stardraw Design 7. These keyboard controls have been designed with productivity in mind and most experienced users take advantage of them regularly.
The Shift, Control (Ctrl) and Alt keys have an effect with most drawing and editing actions and arrow keys can be used to move objects.
Holding down the Ctrl key when you drag a selection creates a duplicate of the selection when you release the mouse button. Note that you must begin dragging when the Position Cursor is showing and the mouse button must be released before the Ctrl key. This is a very fast and convenient way to make copies of objects.
The arrow keys on your keyboard can be used to move the selected objects around your document. The selected objects move 1 gridpoint for each press of an arrow key, and 10 gridpoints when combined with the Alt key.
Holding down the Shift key "proportionalises" your drawing or editing actions. The effects that holding down the Shift key can have on your actions are listed here:
Shift creates a perfect square when using the Rectangle tool
Shift creates a perfect circle when using the Ellipse tool
Shift locks all lines to 45° when using the Line tool
Shift makes scaling proportional so that as you move an object's corner handle the scale factors in the x and y axes are identical
Shift allows you select multiple objects by clicking on each one individually
Shift allows you to deselect objects from a multiple selection by clicking on them
