Custom Title Blocks

You can create custom Title Blocks most easily by making a copy of a default Title Block file and editing it.

Default Title Block Templates

Stardraw Design 7 includes 2 default Title Block Template files:

These files are located in the Stardraw Design 7 installation folder, usually:

C:\Program Files\Stardraw.com Ltd\Stardraw Design 7 (on 32-bit computers)

or

C:\Program Files (x86)\Stardraw.com Ltd\Stardraw Design 7 (on 64-bit computers)

Copy the file to a location on your computer to which you have write-access.

Editing Title Block Files

A Title Block file is a normal Stardraw Design 7 project with a drawing tab for each page size and orientation for which you wish to have a separate Title Block.  The names of these drawing tabs are shown in the Template dropdown of the Title Block dialog.

To edit your custom Title Blocks, open the file as normal and simply make the changes you want in each drawing tab.

All of the objects in your custom Title Block will appear as they are in the template except for Substitution Fields which can be used to insert content dynamically from Project Details and Drawing (Document)Details.  Substitution fields are text objects with the structure "[dataprovider\fieldname]" e.g. [Project\Title] substitutes the Project Title from the Project Information group of the Project View.  For full details of available fields see Substitution Fields.

Title Block Drawing Area

Title Block templates have a layer, hidden by default, called Title Block Drawing Area. This layer contains a single object, a Rectangle, that defines the area 'into' which the drawing is placed when you insert the Title Block.  More accurately, this Rectangle is used to calculate the scaling factor applied to the Title Block when it's added to your drawing.  If you make changes to the main area of the Title Block within which the project drawing will appear be sure to complete these steps:

Important: the Title Block Drawing Area layer must contain 1 object and 1 object only: a Rectangle.
