The dogleg is a tool designed specifically to draw connection diagrams such as system schematics or PCB layouts. It produces an entity which has 2 horizontal sections and 1 vertical section, just like the image on the button. Doglegs are designed to connect the input and output stubs of symbols in the Block Schematic and Pictorial Schematic environments.
When you click and drag using this tool you will see the dogleg created dynamically with the upright section halfway between the start and endpoints of the dogleg.
The dogleg has special functionality when edited using the Edit Node cursor. It has 5 nodes, the largest of which (located in the middle of the vertical section) can be used to slide the section horizontally while simultaneously adjusting the other corner nodes to maintain all the dogleg’s angles at 90°.
Moving the start- and end-nodes with the Edit Node cursor causes the dogleg to be scaled and the vertical section will remain at the same proportional distance between the start- and end-points.
Moving either of the corner nodes allows you to set any of the sections at an angle. Then, by sliding the large centre node, the angles will be maintained.
